VALAIS WANDERS
Sheep trekking experience in Northumberland

The Experience
Walk alongside our gentle Valais Blacknose sheep and enjoy a relaxed, guided sheep trek across our family farm in the foothills of the Cheviots.
Slow down, enjoy the views, and spend time with some very special sheep.
A warm welcome at Kypie Farm
Valais Wanders is part of life here at Kypie Farm. We’ve been caring for our animals and welcoming visitors for years, and sheep trekking has grown naturally from that.
Our walks are calm, friendly, and suitable for most people - whether you’re visiting as a couple, a family, or on your own.
No experience is needed. Just comfortable shoes, a warm coat and a sense of curiosity.
We're near Ford & Etal, Northumberland, just a few miles from Wooler, Kelso and Berwick-upon-Tweed.

Meet the Flock
Each of our Valais sheep has their own personality, and getting to know them is part of the fun.

Lollop & Looper
The original twin-brother trekking team at Kypie Farm. Lollop is our tallest sheep and loves to walk, Looper has the nicest wool we have ever seen and is very well behaved.

Lorelai
One of the foundation trekking team, daughter of Izzy and a real sweetheart. She is small and more demure, but what she lacks in stature she makes up for in enthusiasm.

Murphy & Maurice
Two brothers new to the trekking team in 2026. Murphy is fun, cuddly and always inquisitive. Maurice is cute, lively and always ready for an adventure out on the hills.

Moss & Marvel
New to trekking in 2026, two brothers. Moss is a quirky fluff ball that can sniff out a treat from 100 paces! Marvel is growing to be a big lad (like his relative Lollop) and is usually first in-line for a selfie.

Marmaduke
Cheeky, energetic and full of mischief, Marmaduke, daughter of Inky Dinky, is new to the team for the 2026 season. She won't be ignored and loves a good old bum scratch!

Izzy
One of our original Valais Blacknose sheep. She is retired from trekking, but an awesome mother to a few of our current team. Izzy is super nosey and no pockets are safe!

About Kypie Farm
We are a 372 acre mixed arable and pedigree sheep farm in the rolling foothills of the Cheviots, we are incredibly fortunate to live and work in this stunning landscape.
We truly are a family run farm. David and Marlyn Mair moved to Kypie Farm 36 years ago when they were offered a farm tenancy on Ford & Etal Estate. David and his daughter, Anne, head up the team but are ably and frequently assisted by Marlyn, Anne’s husband Darren and their sons Henry and Ewan. Farming has been part of our family for many generations.
